Local family Schaefer builds 2 rain gardens on their property.
A brief timeline of their restoration project:
Fall 2014-Attended a meeting, hosted by the Stearns County Soil and Water, inviting property owners to install rain gardens and/or shoreline restorations as a way to reduce runoff into Lake Koronis. Interested was in participating in both a rain garden and shoreline restoration.
Spring 2015-Over the next year there were proposals and site visits for planning and engingeering purposes. The proposed project was agreed upon.
Spring 2016-Site visits and plans for the project were finalized. Construction began in April and was completed at the end of May.
75% was paid by a state grant through Stearns County Soil and Water.
20% was paid by landowner.
5% was a donation from KLA.
