AIS Volunteer Inspector Training
DNR training was held on Nov. 8, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Paynesville Community Center for volunteer inspection of watercraft. The Lake Associations in our watershed all appreciate the involvement of those who attended to help reduce the risk of invasive species entering our watershed. For more information go to the DNR AIS website.
Current Lake Issues
We would like to keep this section for reporting up to date lake issues. We need you residents to help us with this information. Please email KLA and let us know of any issues you may encounter (IE: lake itch, water quality, etc.). We can then post them here.
Lake Service Provider Training and Permit
Minnesota’s invasive species laws (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 84D) impose a variety of restrictions and a permit program pertaining to lake service providers to help prevent the spread of AIS between waters in the state. “Service providers” are now required to have a service provider permit before conducting work that includes placing or removing water related equipment from any state waters. Individuals who work for a service provider must also take training that will be offered online.
How do you know if you are a lake service provider and would need a permit? MN DNR web site has the answer.
